The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 如坐针毡。上海的都市文化近年已经有影棚化的趋势，一种脱离土地的悬浮光鲜，打卡小洋楼，满城咖啡店。电影把这种生活当真，且要加倍盆景化地呈现出来，使每个人物都失去了实感。尤其是女性人物的塑造，情节不够，台词来凑，变成一种年度金句角色。这样去表现新都市的女性主义，就像消费一样空泛。
从女性生存状况到师生不对等剥削到警方滥用职权到无良媒体对情绪的煽动作用到腐败政客操纵选举。一个看似简单的案件能够涉及到印度社会的种种问题，不能说编剧设计的不巧妙
