The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 此起彼伏的QQ空间日志台词+波澜壮阔的传奇阅历人生，估计想走怅然一生的豪迈人物路线。可惜这位迷影导演野心很大，能力不足。就那种看了很多电影，觉得很懂，结果产出的依旧是四不像屎片。
夸张点说，有一半是由王传君的旁白构建的，引人入胜、娓娓道来。
【巴西】“那片海是你~那片沙漠也是你~”一个带着温度的爱情公路片，另一种感觉的《寻》；写尽那些奇怪的际遇与“留在这刻”的珍惜。色调不自然地在和《春光乍泄》靠近，还怪可爱的；《心之全蚀》响起，离开的车，这刻彻底破防。男主让人想起了Édgar Ramírez。=w=
两人视角的转换很喜欢，之前看过一部罗马尼亚的电影也一样《集体》。你带着爱来找我，我带着你的爱离开。
莎拉惧怕丹尼尔的暴力，丹尼尔错愕莎拉的真我，屏幕分隔了两人截然不同的私人荒漠，又勾勒出他们美好爱情的海峡。
对这类片子抵抗无力，对小动物抵抗无力！大动物也是
一部分裂的电影，一边是如《阿甘正传》一般的爱情故事，另一边是似科教片一般的生命探寻，如果单独独立，是两部不错的题材，一个拍的细腻温润，一个拍的前卫大胆，但两者结合一起真的觉得怪异😂PS.虽然小时候的故事发生地在青岛，但你们说的是我大潍坊话！可太亲切了。
#片尾亲密镜头加分，恋爱脑表示无法理解为什么Daniel不带Sara回南方，留都不留一下嘛！
多年以后，Sara勇敢地活出了自我，却又因为过去迷失了自我，终日沉溺在酒精与性当中。而Daniel，回到南方依旧迷茫、困惑、碌碌无为，娶妻生子，平庸一生。他们会再联系吗?可能会，会再见面吗?很难，很难。自由的荒漠缓缓散尽，现实的枷锁浮现出来，这段旅程终将只能成为彼此心底的秘密。
不过个人很喜欢男女主跳舞的那一幕~
ps：公路➕拉丁美男＝我的菜！被深深吸引住了！开头和结尾部分更是喜爱。
Antonio真的很hot，但还是无法接受这种剧情设定，故事结束在水坝的时候也许会好很多，最后强行把一个lost的直男掰弯反而让人物脱离了现实，这个世界其实也没有很多深柜。
PS：个人觉得标题前的内容可以缩短一些，留给末尾丹尼尔转变或者多描述一些他们网恋的过程。
失望大于期望。摄影不错，但是剧情难听点说就是一个男主被PUA的故事，类似的剧情上演过很多遍了。男主的觉醒转变不能从电影中看出来。

景真美，女主真美，小狮子依偎在女主怀里拼命抓住的时候 心都化了。此生最讨厌马戏团、猎人和打着研究课题保护野生动物的所谓科学家，真巧 片子里所有的男演员演得都相当讨厌，除了小男孩，演科学家那个演员…醉了 片子最后一句话：莫扎特和梦想家兄弟情深 不止在电影中，现实中也一样，它们会一起住在加拿大，终身受到保护
